Successful conclusion of Automechanika Jeddah 2017 reinforces renewed optimism in Saudi’s vast auto aftermarket

Dubai, UAE: The 2nd edition of Automechanika Jeddah concluded on a successful note, with an enthusiastic response from Saudi trade buyers and international exhibitors alike.

The biennial exhibition took place from 31 January to 2 February 2017 at the Jeddah Centre for Forums & Events, as 4,011 trade buyers networked with 174 exhibitors from 25 countries.

Organised by Messe Frankfurt Middle East in partnership with Saudi-based Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions (ACE), Automechanika Jeddah’s global appeal was underlined by the presence of debut pavilions from Europe, the USA, Korea, and Hong Kong, while returning pavilions came from Turkey, China and Taiwan.

Some of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of aftermarket spare parts, accessories, components, tyres, batteries, systems and electronics were on show, including Barcino Tyre Company from Spain; Italian manufacturer Le. Ma; Dongnam Corporation from Korea, and US-based Dana, a global leader in highly-engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies.

The high quality of visitors was a common thread throughout the three-day event, with American brake pad manufacturer Giant Industrial Corporation among the throngs of happy exhibitors.

Eli Youssian, Giant Industrial Corporation’s Vice President, commented on the success of the show: “We enjoyed many inspiring conversations, and were impressed by the number of visitors and the great interest in our products, especially our premium ceramic disc brake pads.

“We consider our participation to be a success and the number of visitors exceeded all expectations.”

Another notable highlight was the official launch of Automechanika Riyadh 2018 – a biennial exhibition that will alternate between Automechanika Jeddah, and also organised by Messe Frankfurt Middle East in collaboration with ACE.

The two trade shows combined will create a dual platform providing more business opportunities spanning the vast automotive aftermarket in the Kingdom’s Western, Central, and Eastern regions.

Automechanika Riyadh will take place from 5-7 February 2018 at the Riyadh Exhibition Centre, and was widely welcomed by leading aftermarket players, so much so that several have already confirmed their participation.

The first to sign on as an official Launch Partner during Automechanika Jeddah was O2Proformance, a provider of innovative auto care products that professionally enhance the efficiency and appearance of automobiles.

Ahmed Al Hussaini, the Managing Director for the Gulf region at O2Proformance, said: “After the success of Automechanika Jeddah, we decided to participate at Automechanika Riyadh, as the visitors fit our target market perfectly.

“The Automechanika brand’s global reputation is in keeping with the O2Proformance brand and the level of professionalism we wish to portray to the market place. The Kingdom’s Central and Eastern regions are hugely important to us, and our product range is specifically designed to meet the needs of the regions’ automotive aftermarkets.”

Added Al Hussaini: “We had an amazing show at Automechanika Jeddah with high volumes of foot traffic, and qualified, professional visitors that perfectly fit out client criteria.  Our existing clients were happy to meet us and found the show to be professionally organised with good exhibitors.”

Automechanika Jeddah 2017 concluded amid a positive backdrop where new research indicates Saudi’s automotive aftermarket is well on the road to a full recovery.

An industry whitepaper released on the side-lines of the show by analysts Frost & Sullivan estimates that total revenues in the Kingdom’s automotive aftermarket will grow 5.1 per cent annually over the next five years, reaching SAR 33.62 billion (US$8.9 billion) in 2021.

Automechanika Jeddah was staged in tandem with the Automechanika Academy’s Automotive Aftermarket Symposium on 1st February, creating a dual platform with a double focus on Saudi Arabia’s spare parts, maintenance and repair markets for both commercial and light vehicles.

The exhibition was divided into six product groups of Parts & Components, Electronics & Systems, Accessories & Customizing, Repair & Maintenance, Tyres & Batteries, and Car Wash, Care & Reconditioning.

The 3rd edition of Automechanika Jeddah will return in 2019.  More information is available at
