Dubai, UAE: One of Hollywood’s most sought after hair colourists is making her way to the Middle East, as she embarks on an educational showcase on how to deliver the ‘celebrity look’ at the region’s largest trade fair for beauty, hair, fragrances, and wellbeing.
Tracey Cunningham, the renowned colourist and tastemaker, has for more than two decades reigned supreme within the beauty industry, and works with some of the most popular women of stage and screen, from Jennifer Lopez to Drew Barrymore, Charlize Theron to Toni Collette, or Jennifer Garner to Jessica Biel.
An internet icon and trendsetter, Cunningham regularly shares style and beauty tips for her 200k Instagram followers, and will display her creative talents to thousands of regional hair professionals at Beautyworld Middle East 2016, which takes place from 15-17 May at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Cunningham, a global ambassador for hair strengthening and bond building treatment, Olaplex, will headline a star act of Olaplex stylists during live demonstrations at Centre Stage by Nazih Group – a three-day educational showcase at Beautyworld Middle East highlighting the latest trends and developments in the regional beauty industry.
Having established her Beverley Hills salon, ‘Meche’ in 2012, the American has already worked with UAE clients, and says they’re not much different from her Hollywood A-listers: “I've been working with the most wonderful ladies in the UAE for over seven years now and I’m always asked by my peers: what’s it like working there? What are your clients like?” said Cunningham.
“My answer is simple: UAE ladies are just like the ladies in my salon, Meche. They come in after a soul cycle class or after dropping their kids off at day care, in their workout attire and they want to chat and laugh and ultimately obtain gorgeous and healthy hair.
“They all want the gold ombré of Lily Aldridge’s look, the lighter tones of Khloe Kardashian, or the rich Chrissy Teigen tone, just like my clients in Los Angeles. I just stick to what I know would enhance their exotic beauty and keep it as natural as possible,” she added.
Cunningham and the Olaplex team will demonstrate at Centre Stage by Nazih Group how Olaplex keeps hair manageable and assists with keeping manes long and strong during and after the colouring process, emphasising its strength in typically hot and humid Middle East environments.
Nazih Group, one of the Middle East’s largest beauty and cosmetic companies, is the region’s exclusive distributor for Olaplex, having launched the professional haircare product in the market last year.
Nazih Hamad, President of Nazih Group, said: “Tracey Cunningham not only embodies the identity of Olaplex in her work and as a stylist to the new modern women, but she also truly values the science and ethics behind this unique brand.
“Because of her expertise and the trust she acquired from famous celebrities such as Khloe Kardashian, Lily Aldridge among others, she is the reason why Middle East colourists and hair technicians are set free from fear of damaged hair during technical treatments.
“They instead feel inspired and are able to offer clients colour switches and all kinds of technical hair treatments with confidence that their hair will still be natural and healthy. We are happy that Tracey will be with us during Beautyworld Middle East 2016 as it acknowledges Olaplex’s presence in the Middle East.”
Cunningham hails from the north west of America, and relocated to Los Angeles where she struck up a friendship with actress and singer Bette Midler whilst working as a nanny to her daughter Sophie. Midler instantly recognised Cunningham’s great eye and raw talent with hair and suggested she enrol in beauty school. The rest, as they say, is history.
Before too long she became the most sought after colourist in town, and found herself working with the inner circle of Hollywood. Cunningham’s amazing ability for the ‘best blow out in town’ was the first of her many accolades to follow.
Centre Stage by Nazih Group is one of several features at Beautyworld Middle East 2016, providing an interactive platform for regional professionals to gain knowledge about the latest, trends, developments, and regulations in beauty and wellbeing.
Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Messe Frankfurt Middle East, the organiser of Beautyworld Middle East, said: “When influential international trendsetters in the beauty world such as Tracey Cunningham use Beautyworld Middle East as a platform to reach professionals across the wider Middle East, it underlines the growing impact the event has on regional beauty and hair trends.”
“The exhibition and value-added features not only serve as a vital show window for global trends to the regional market, but also function as an important venue for promoting an exchange of ideas and forecasting upcoming industry trends.”
Beautyworld Middle East 2016 focuses on the five core product groups of Hair, Nails, and Salon Supplies; Fragrance; Cosmetics and Skincare; Machinery, Packaging and Raw Materials; and Professional Equipment and Spa.
The 21st edition of the three-day event will feature more than 1,450 exhibitors from 60 countries, and returns with other show features such as Hair Education by ghd; ‘Face It!’ Makeup competition; Nail it by OPI & Nazih Group; and the two-day Business in Beauty Summit.
