Overall in 2019, our ten Dubai and three Saudi exhibitions combined featured 6,282 exhibitors from 68 countries, while collectively drawing in 150,545 trade buyers and professionals from across the globe – 156 countries to be exact, or in other words, visitors from 80 percent of the world’s nations have entered the doors of our events this year.

Marhaba, Greetings, and welcome to the 2019 winter edition of The BUZZ, keeping you up-to-date on the latest happenings in our office.

Christmas and the New Year is already upon us, marking what has been another hugely busy year in 2019.  We’ve seen the successful launch of a number of conferences in H2, joining a fast-growing and successful portfolio in the conference division.

Our five exhibitions in the second half of 2019 also capped the year off on a high note, with all enjoying healthy year-on-year growth in visitor numbers, which is crucial in growing a strong exhibitor base for the years to come.

These are impressive numbers, representing an increase over the previous year, and they don’t account for the conference division, which in 2019 organised 12 conferences (including four launch events), together hosting 321 speakers, and 3,668 delegates.

MFME made a couple of important event announcements in 2019, the first being the launch of Gifts & Lifestyle Middle East, which will make its bow alongside Paperworld Middle East in March next year.

Meanwhile, Light Middle East and Prolight + Sound Middle East will skip 2020, and will instead resume their annual status alongside Intersec from 2021 onwards, drawing on the synergies the three shows combined create, as the industries they serve turn toward smarter, more automated, and more integrated technology-driven solutions.

With our new leadership team now in place, we’re looking forward to some more exciting announcements in 2020 and beyond that will grow our event portfolio, as we march onwards to achieving our annual revenue targets in the coming years.  Our sales revenue is estimated to reach US$74 million in 2024, growing around seven percent annually over the next five years, and we’re confident we’ll achieve this.

We’re entering an exciting period regionally, where the likes of Egypt and Saudi Arabia continue to push forward with economic diversification policies, while in the UAE, many are talking about what will happen post Dubai Expo 2020, and the opportunities this will present, as the Emirate prepares to host the largest mega event the Middle East region has ever seen.

That’s all ahead of us, but for now, let us reflect on what has been a huge year, thanks to all your hard work and dedication, for which we’re truly grateful.  We hope you enjoy this edition of The BUZZ, including its new digital format.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year
