"I was pregnant, and I was in my last days of my last trimester, really pushing myself to complete my task and achieve my given target before I could go home."

This story is not probably with an intention to win the competition, but just to high light that it’s not easy for a first time mommy to balance her personnel life , her new born baby and her career at the same time. But People around her play a major role in making her OR breaking her at that phase..

I was lucky enough to work with one such manager at the most crucial period of life –

My immediate manager Mr. Wajahat Hussain.

Here is my little story:

“I was pregnant, and I was in my last days of my last trimester ,really pushing myself to complete my task and achieve my given target before I could go home. I Know I was trusted/believed and hence was given the most important/highest revenue generating project of the team.

One Thursday evening I was sitting all worried thinking, how do I get to the numbers that I am supposed to and I hear a voice from behind me saying “Sumaya you have been working from 8am today, you haven’t had your lunch, I think you should leave now. Do only as much as you can, leave the rest of the work for me, I will do it for you And I will make sure you hit your numbers. because what’s important for me now is your health and your healthy baby”….I smiledJ

(Working for some of the top companies in the past, knowing the corporate culture/mentality,  I was not expecting this anywhere in reality from a male colleague.)

I was happy, feeling good , comfortable and confidant at the same time.’

  • Happy- because I know I will achieve my targets
  • Good - because I am not being judged
  • Comfortable - that my job is not at risk
  • Confidant - that I can come back and over achieve
